Background
The word aether stems from a root meaning to kindle, burn, or shine, it is the term used to describe a medium for the propagation of light. Ethernet is a family of frame-based computer networking technologies for local area networks (LANs). The name comes from the physical concept of the ether. The combination of the twisted pair versions of Ethernet for connecting end systems to the network, along with the fiber optic versions for site backbones, is the most widespread wired LAN technology.
With the trans-pacific and global fiber optic cables investment, China Telecom (Americas) Corporation extends the Ethernet from LAN to WAN (Wide Area Network) at the speed of light. After decades of GDP double-digit growing, China surpassed Japan in 2009 to be the second largest economy right after the United States. China Telecom (Americas) Corporation has provided the Ethernet service between the two largest economies since 2006.
The China Telecom Ethernet service provides the following features:
- Standardized Services
