Bill Deere  Vice President, Government Affairs 

William R. Deere joined USTelecom in July 2004 to lead the association’s advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill as USTelecom’s Vice President, Government Affairs. Deere is widely respected both on Capitol Hill and in the Administration.

Deere came to USTelecom from the State Department, where he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Legislative Affairs overseeing legislative initiatives, first in the House and then the Senate. In addition to his executive branch experience, Deere worked on Capitol Hill as a House Appropriations Committee staff member for Rep. Jim Lightfoot (R-IA). Deere also has significant association experience, having served two stints at the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, most recently as Senior Vice President, Legislative Affairs.
