Dear USTelecom colleagues,
It’s been a tough week.
On Monday, the entire USTelecom team gathered for an important conversation about our own values and how we as an association stand for justice and equality. It was not always comfortable, but it was a discussion we needed to have. I am grateful we had a chance to share our own perspectives, hear directly from those we spend so much of our time with, and talk openly and honestly about building a more just and inclusive country.
We’ll do more talking – and listening – soon.
On a personal note, I watched the memorial for George Floyd yesterday, and I share the sadness and anger at his senseless death. At the same time, I’ve been heartened by the demonstrations across the country and the outpouring of support for Black Americans who face inequality and discrimination.
Our association and its members are in the business of creating opportunity, connecting communities everywhere and bringing humanity together. Those connections are needed now more than ever.
Like I said, it was a tough week, but I look forward to continuing this conversation – and to the important work still before us – and I hope you’ll always feel free to share your thoughts in the days and weeks ahead.
Thank you for all you do.
– Jonathan
