Background: Today, the Federal Communications Commission issued a temporary stay of a data security regulation that would have subjected internet service providers to a different standard than other companies in the internet ecosystem.
The following statement is from USTelecom President & CEO Jonathan Spalter:
“Today’s commitment by the chairs of the FCC and FTC to a uniform, consumer-focused approach to privacy is the path to best protecting online privacy and ensuring that we all benefit from a dynamic internet. Taking time to develop the right, coherent framework is a sensible approach rather than moving forward with a new rule that would fragment privacy protections.”
