USTelecom Statement on Equality Act

WASHINGTON, DC – USTelecom | The Broadband Association, a leading association of connectivity providers and technology innovators, today released the following statement on the Equality Act, legislation prohibiting discrimination against members of the LGBTQ+ community in the areas of employment, education, credit, jury service, federal funding, housing and public accommodations.

USTelecom President and CEO Jonathan Spalter said:

“There are a lot of amazing things about the internet, but one of the things I love most about the power of connectivity has nothing to do with technology or network engineering. Fundamentally, the internet gives everyone – no matter who they are or where they live – a voice. We’re in the business of connecting communities and bringing humanity together, so we’re proud to support the Equality Act to prevent discrimination and protect the civil rights of America’s LGBTQ+ community.”
