Background: The Federal Communications Commission announced today that Chairman Ajit Pai has shared a draft order with his commissioners that, if adopted, would provide over $500 million in additional funding for cooperatives and small rural carriers to deploy high-speed broadband in rural areas.
This statement can be attributed to USTelecom CEO Jonathan Spalter:
“Chairman Pai’s draft order is another important marker to accomplish his number one priority – closing the digital divide. Direct federal funding is a critical component to upgrading and expanding networks so every American has access to benefits of high speed internet, no matter where they live.”
