Lower Bills, Faster Speeds: Family Budgets Get a Boost as Broadband Prices Decline

Washington, D.C. (November 19, 2025) – Today, USTelecom – The Broadband Association released its annual Broadband Pricing Index (BPI) showing broadband prices for today’s most popular services have declined by 43.1 percent over the past 10 years, compared to the cost of overall consumer goods and services, which has risen by 35.8 percent.

“America’s broadband providers are meeting the moment and easing pressure on family budgets,” said USTelecom President and CEO Jonathan Spalter. “This is a testament to the relentless pace of innovation led by these providers while operating in a competitive market that keeps prices down and puts consumers first.”

The BPI report found that prices for the most popular internet plans with speeds ranging from 100-940 Mbps fell by 8.7 percent adjusted for inflation from an average price of $49.25 in 2024 to $44.95 today.

More Findings From the Report:

  • As more consumers upgrade to faster speeds, the report also shows a drop in the price for internet speeds between 940 Mbps and 1 Gbps of 6.2 percent over the last year.
  • Prices for plans with faster internet speeds between 940 Mbps and 1 Gbps fell 22.5 percent since 2015.
  • From 2015 to 2025, weighted Mbps download speeds have increased by 100 percent while weighted Mbps upload speeds have increased by 86.3 percent.
