Statement on ITG Re-designation

Today, the FCC Enforcement Bureau again re-designated the USTelecom-led Industry Traceback Group (ITG) as the country’s official Robocall Traceback Consortium.

The ITG has now been designated as the official Consortium in each of the three years since the role was established. The ITG will continue coordinating industry-led efforts to trace back the origin of suspected unlawful robocalls in the U.S. and around the world. The designation of an industry-led robocall consortium was a provision in the TRACED (Telephone Robocall Abuse Criminal Enforcement and Deterrence) Act.

The following statement can be attributed to Josh Bercu, vice president of USTelecom’s policy & advocacy team:

“Since its inception in 2015, the Industry Traceback Group (ITG) has been committed to the fight against illegal robocalls that aggravate and scam consumers.  We’re proud of the traceback operation we have built and continue to innovate and expand our effort. Given our successful track record we are honored that the FCC recognizes our important role in this work. We look forward to continuing to work with our members, the broader provider ecosystem, and government partners to combat illegal robocalls.”
