USTelecom Statement on House Broadband Infrastructure Plan

WASHINGTON, DC – USTelecom | The Broadband Association, a leading association of connectivity providers and innovators, today issued the following statement after House Democrats, led by Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-SC) and Chairman of the House Energy & Commerce Committee Frank Pallone (D-NJ), released a new infrastructure investment framework, including various broadband funding initiatives.

Jonathan Spalter, USTelecom President and CEO said:

“Whip Clyburn and Chairman Pallone have proposed the type of big and bold broadband investment to meet our connectivity moment. This is a prime opportunity for government and broadband innovators to work together to target and expand access in unserved America and create stronger and more resilient network infrastructure in the process.

“Precisely because this is such a historic investment in broadband, it is more important than ever that this funding be spent in tandem with updated and data-driven, 21st century broadband maps. That process is underway and should guide the distribution of this essential funding so that everyone has confidence this game-changing investment reaches the communities and people who need it the most and that taxpayer dollars are being put to use as efficiently and responsibly as possible.”
