Comporium is working to eradicate the digital divide with its Connected Internet Program, which allows qualifying households to receive free service with an assist from a federal program. Comporium and other major service providers collaborated with the White House’s National Economic Council in designing the program.
Matt Dosch, Comporium’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, visited the White House along with representatives from those other service providers. President Biden and Vice President Harris talked about the importance of affordable internet for all families.
“The public/private partnership assists low-income households with obtaining this important service,” said Dosch, “ensuring that eligible customers can afford the connections that they need for work, school, health care and more.”
Comporium’s Connected Internet Program offers as much as 100 Mbps, depending on fiber availability, as well as unlimited data usage, free service installation and free equipment.
The company effort is made possible through the federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), a multi-billion dollar federal program the provides a discount toward service. The ACP site provides information on eligibility; a household may be eligible if someone in the household participates in certain government programs, such as Lifeline or a school-lunch program.
