Background: Today, House Democrats released a framework for a five-year, $760 billion investment in the country’s infrastructure. The plan includes $86 billion in various broadband funding initiatives.
The following statement can be attributed to Jonathan Spalter, president and CEO, USTelecom:
“We couldn’t agree more with Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats that a high-speed internet connection is an essential part of life. Broadband lifts our nation’s economy, strengthens our competitiveness and bolsters our security.
“Today’s plan is a good place to start to ensure broadband reaches every unserved American family, community and enterprise. A federal infrastructure investment on this scale that leverages private dollars will achieve three bipartisan goals: narrow the digital divide, expand access and make network infrastructure more resilient. Win, win, win.”
