Statement: FCC Robocall Report

Background: Yesterday, the Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released a new report on robocalls, required under the FCC’s 2017 Blocking Order.

The USTelecom-led Industry Traceback Group includes 25+ participants across the wireline, wireless, VoIP and cable industries dedicated to the ongoing battle against illegal robocalls – the agency’s top consumer protection priority.

The following statement can be attributed to Jonathan Spalter, president and CEO, USTelecom:

“USTelecom applauds Chairman Pai’s commitment to putting the fight against illegal robocalls at the very top of the FCC’s agenda – where it belongs. The report describes multiple initiatives underway to stop this consumer plague: protection tools by third parties and voice providers, stepped up enforcement actions by the FCC and FTC, the deployment of SHAKEN/STIR and traceback efforts by USTelecom’s Industry Traceback Group. We know this is a growing problem for consumers and networks. Our commitment is to continue to be part of the solution and a trusted partner of the FCC, FTC and law enforcement agencies.”
