Background: The White House today announced the launch of its American Broadband Initiative, including an eight state broadband availability mapping pilot led by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA).

“Closing the digital divide is an urgent national mission. We welcome all initiatives such as those announced today that help pave the way to nationwide connectivity. We know the development of an accurate national broadband availability map is a crucial step in ensuring funds are spent responsibly on broadband deployment, which is why USTelecom has worked closely with our partners in government and across our industry to advance this shared goal.”
